My birthday is rapidly approaching. Someone once told me that the day you forget your actual age is the day you know you're old. Though 38 isn't old, it is old enough to know that there is not a lot of time to get fit and healthy before 40. To accomplish getting into the best shape of my life before 40, there is some serious work to be done.
1. Run hard for at least 30 minutes, three days a week.
2. Increase vegetable intake.
3. Decrease alcohol intake and save the consumption for special occasions only.
4. Non-run days are for yoga. It is time for a serious practice.
5. Drink a Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar daily.
6. Continue with the decreased sugar intake.
7. Don't envy other women's bodies and love my own.
8. Spend less time in front of the boob tube.
9. Remain busy during time in front of the boob tube.
10. Play more outside with the kids.
11. Take portion control very seriously.
12. Meditate
13. Don't skip nightly semisonic facial routine.
14. Ignore the devil on the one shoulder and listen more to the angel on the other.
15. Try to fast one day each month.
16. Succeed at teaching the kids to help more with keeping things neat and clean.
17. Find a family volunteer opportunity.
18. Never participate in negativity.
19. Continue with nightly family walks.
20. Have a solid cheat day every other week.
21. Read an inspirational quote daily.
22. Finish the list of classic must read books.
23. Stretch
24. Write more stories.
25. Catch up with people who have been missing from my life.
26. Stay organized.
27. Find a sitter to enjoy a bi-weekly date night.
28. Plan for another Paris-like adventure with my man.
29. Learn more about blogging to make this site better.
30. Learn about dragonflies.
31. Write more snail mail letters.
32. Do squats and push-ups in addition to running and yoga.
33. Celebrate small victories every day.
34. Be the strongest military wife I can be.
35. Take more pictures with my nice camera.
36. Use the pictures taken with my nice camera.
37. Continue the elimination of my sailor mouth. It's a process I think.
38. Smile and love the present moment more than the past and more than the future.
These are going to be hung up in my homeschooling room as a reminder that there is not a ton of time left before 40 happens. My last two years in my 30s are going to be the best yet! By the time I reach the "over the hill" age, I will be in the best shape of my life both physically and mentally.
